BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Reprise Records) - Reprise Records' My Chemical Romance received their first Grammy Award nomination today for Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package. Singer Gerard Way along with Art Directors Matt Taylor and Ellen Wakayama received music's highest recognition for their work.

Released on October 24th, 2006, "The Black Parade" claimed the Number One spot on SoundScan's Rock, Alternative, Top Albums Retailers, Indy/Small Chain, Internet, and Digital Album Charts. It also shot to Number 2 on Billboard's Top 200 album chart, selling more than 240,000 copies its first week of release. The album has since been certified platinum by the R.I.A.A. and spawned three hit Modern Rock singles, "Welcome To the Black Parade," "Famous Last Words," and the current single "Teenagers," which shot to the top of MTV's "TRL" in July.

The success of "The Black Parade" - an epic theatrical concept album about mortality - has been driven by both fan excitement and stunning favorable press reaction. It was named 2006's "Album Of The Year" by Blender Magazine, which dubbed it an "instant classic," saying: "My Chemical Romance transcended the cliche... to craft a grandiose epic that just might make them the biggest band in the world." Rolling Stone called it "a rabid, ingenious paraphrasing of echoes and kitsch from rock's golden age of bombast." Entertainment Weekly said the album is "riotously enjoyable... their best yet," and The New York Times lauded it as "a tour de force about coming of age in the post 9/11 era."
