NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ GAC) - For a glimpse of just how much the music means to Garth Brooks, country music fans need look no further than Sunday's one-hour television special on Great American Country, Ultimate Garth -The Ultimate Hits, which airs Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. ET. GAC takes viewers behind the scenes to see how the top-selling solo artist of all time hand-picked songs and videos included in Brooks' latest CD/DVD greatest hits collection titled,
Garth Brooks The Ultimate Hits.
The GAC special tells the personal story behind various selections on the three-disc release. Brooks explains the impact that dramatic, groundbreaking music videos have had on his career. Ultimate Garth - The Ultimate Hits contains three brand new songs and one bonus track, new videos, as well as never-before-seen footage and interviews. Also included is a recent shoot with Brooks and Huey Lewis talking about a re-make of the classic 'Workin' for a Living.'
'Garth Brooks represents so much more than great music,' said Sarah Trahern, senior vice president of programming for GAC. 'He's one of the first artists to master the use of video and to meld both sight and sound into a completely new art form.
In the documentary, Brooks reveals that the 1994 video 'Ain't Goin' Down,' in his words, 'was a wake-up call. If you want to know what a Garth show is all about, this is it.' The video's high-energy theme stands in stark contrast to Brooks' current smash hit, 'More Than a Memory,' a haunting ballad about lost love.
The production of the 'More Than a Memory' video, accented by an unremitting on-camera downpour, required Brooks to remain in a soaking wet state for more than 15 hours.
GAC viewers will also see an elegant concept video of the first duet between Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, 'In Another's Eyes.' Full of passion and intensity, the clip was pulled from the vaults 10 years after it was first shot, but never broadcast.
