DALLAS, TX. The 8th Annual MusicFest will showcase concerts featuring independent female artists in 12 U.S. cities, raising money and awareness for local animal groups.

The MusicFest, which kicks off on October 13 in Dallas, TX, will include shows in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Berkeley, CA; Nashville, TN; Houston and Austin, TX; Philadelphia, PA; Phoenix, AZ; Milwaukee, WI; Brooklyn, NY; and Denver, CO. The shows will run into December.

Madalyn Sklar, founder of GoGirlsMusic.com, created GoGirlsMusicFest, a series of annual showcase events across the United States. The festival promotes independent women in music while supporting various charities that have included the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls, American Liver Foundation, MusiCares, the Lynne Cohen Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research, and the Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation. Since 2000, over 100 all-volunteer shows have taken place throughout the U.S.
