BURBANK, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Bros. Records) - Manic smart art-rockers MUTEMATH make television history by being the first band to perform live... BACKWARDS! The New Orleans quartet will perform their current single, "Typical," on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in the most atypical way imaginable tonight, Wednesday,
September 19th. The idea for this unique performance stems from the video for the track, which was a collaborative concept between video director
Israel Anthem and the band. Every move and detail by each band member was conceived and painstakingly plotted and choreographed. Band members learned and rehearsed their individual parts of the song backwards so when filmed and viewed it would appear as accurately and naturally as possible in real time though the film runs completely in reverse.
The video was filmed over a two-day period in Nashville in February 2007. The high-action shoot was captured in one continuous take by a single camera divided in two parts. The resultant clip first appeared on YouTube in March of 2007 and views seemed to skyrocket into an orbit all its own. Over 1 million viral views later, "Typical" found its way to MTV's "Discover and Download," MTV2 and MTVU this past summer making it one of the most viewed video clips in recent years.
Since then, the band has toured at home and abroad extensively, has appeared live on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and has just confirmed a date on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" set for Wednesday, October 17th. Now, MUTEMATH returns for their 2nd appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in a way people never would have thought possible. Don't miss TV history in the making with MUTEMATH performing "Typical," in reverse tonight on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on ABC-TV, 12:05am. Check local listings for details.
