Las Vegas, NV. (Top40 Charts/ Ah-ha Entertainment) - After spending the past several months working on her debut album in a Nashville recording studio, Crystal Sands decided she needed a change of scenery so when a friend informed her she was moving to Nevada, Sands, who has never traveled west of the Mississippi, says she heard the bright lights of the Vegas strip calling her name. She had no idea that this spontaneous trip to help a friend relocate would lead to singing for Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons and a CBSNS camera crew; but that is exactly what happened.

Earlier in the week Sands had volunteered to sing at the Senior Community Center in Searchlight, Nevada; a small mining town that sits midway between Las Vegas and Laughlin, and is home to U.S. Senator Harry Reid. This performance led to an invitation to return later in the week to meet the Governor. Sands did not know she would be asked to sing, but she never goes anywhere without her guitar, so when the director of the Center asked if she would be like to sing for the Governor, she was happy to oblige.

Governor Gibbons is being closely followed by a camera crew from CBSNS (Special news division) during his sweeping tour of Nevada that includes many of the small, rural Nevada communities across the state; the entire trip is being recorded for a special documentary that will air in the fall.

Sands was excited and pleased to be able to meet and perform for the Governor. When one of the Governor's assistants mentioned that the Governor is himself a musician, she offered to have him accompany her on the guitar but he politely declined and turned the floor over to her. At the conclusion of her performance Governor Gibbons, while being interviewed by local media, stated that "Crystal Sands is not only talented and beautiful but young people like her, with so much heart and talent, are our future; and she is also the future of country music."

During an interview with the local Desert Flyer newspaper, Sands said that she was humbled by the Governor's comments and very proud that she had been asked to sing for him. "If I lived in Nevada," she said, "I would certainly vote for Governor Gibbons; it was an honor and a privilege to meet him."

Sands, who is from Arbutus, Maryland, has just finished recording her debut album and has been tapped as the flagship artist for Ah-ha Entertainment; a new label based in Nashville, Tennessee. Her album will be released later this year.
