Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Aria Records) - With the October 16 release of his self-titled debut album still weeks away, country star Stephen Cochran is getting a rousing reception from audiences at every stop along a road that has seen him opening for artists from Toby Keith to John Conlee to John Anderson. Cochran's leadoff single, "Friday Night Fireside," is already a fan favorite, with audiences turning the song's chorus into a sing-along party anthem.

Not surprisingly, Cochran's fellow artists are taking notice, praising the country newcomer's performance onstage and off. To some of those artists, Cochran's name might just ring a bell. His dad, known as Steve Cochran, was a serious contender for country stardom back in the late '70s. After his recent set at the huge Jamboree in the Hills music festival in Illinois, Cochran was surprised by country legend Charlie Daniels, who recounted the story of meeting the singer as a five-year-old back when the elder Cochran was opening for Daniels and his band. At a recent show with country hitmaker John Anderson, Cochran was delighted to hear the veteran performer singing his praises to the capacity crowd.

"John Anderson is a country legend, and I'm an opening act still paying my dues,' Cochran says. "To hear an artist like John telling the crowd what a great show we did means the world to me. When the show was over, he came back to our dressing room with congratulations and said he was looking forward to doing more shows together down the road. When I was 4 years old, I knew every word to 'Swingin'.' But as big a John Anderson fan as I was, I became a much bigger fan after working with him."
