Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Mirrome Records) - Mirrome Records Recording artist Miko Marks returns to Washington D.C. for two special appearances in September.
Miko is a headline act at the 22nd Annual Black Family Reunion Celebration, performing daily on the Capitol Mall September 8th and 9th. The Black Family Reunion Celebration, sponsored by the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW), is a two-day cultural event celebrating the enduring strengths and traditional values of the African American family. BFRC is the largest, most significant family event in the nation, attracting more than 500,000 people each year. This is Marks' second year at the event.
Miko then continues her tour as a featured entertainer with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo, appearing at The Showplace Arena for 2 shows on September 21st and 22nd. This years marks the 23rd year of the Pickett rodeo.
Her second album, It Feels Good, is set for release August 21 and will be available in stores and through online music retailers. Miko is promoting the first single, "The Son My Daddy Never Had", written by Craig Monday, Pat & Peter Luboff.
Her music is inspiring, sometimes intimate and other times downright fun, delivered by a voice both powerful and crystalline. As a songwriter, her lyrics can be poignant, but Miko has a playful side as well. One cut, "Double Dog Cheater", takes a fellow to task for his bad behavior, but Miko refuses to disclose a name for the offender. She did, however, admit on KBWF radio San Francisco (95.7 The Wolf) to being inspired by "...someone I saw in the audience at a music industry awards show."
Marks has been featured in Ebony Magazine, Today's Black Woman, Country Weekly Magazine and in a recent music feature in American Cowboy Magazine. She recently appeared on WAGA, FOX TV Atlanta's Good Day Atlanta, and was an in-studio guest on the 95.7 The Wolf radio program in San Francisco. Miko can be seen in select bridal magazines in a campaign for Varna Jewelry for which she modeled. She performed the national anthem on 8/12 for the Giants-Pirates baseball game and again on 8/13 for ESPN's Monday Night Football game.
