Rarely do you see an artist that sings well, plays an instrument well and writes great songs. Stacey Knights is one of those rare individuals that offers the complete package.
Changing Mainstream is a fresh approach for Stacey, whose previous CD's were heavy on Sax.
Stacey is accomplished on the soprano, Alto and Tenor Saxes and also on flute. This CD Showcases her sultry alto voice as well as her impeccable Sax playing.
Track 7 is my favorite by far for several reasons.
Stacey collaborated with the late Priscilla Dubas to write this beautiful tribute to our fallen war heroes. Don't get me wrong, this is not a political statement. It is much more than that. It is about dreams, lost sons and memories never lived. "Flag Covered Box" should go far. Staceys vocal arrangement is clear and concise, and slightly mournful. The Keyboard work is uplifting and the cameo performance on Trumpet by Mike Conway fits right in to the fabric of the song.
Changing Midstream has 8 great offerings on it, ranging from Reggae to Beach Music and from Funk to Ballads. The Musicianship, Mixing and Mastering are all first class and Stacey's performances shine through both in her horn playing and vocals.
