NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ CBUJ ENT) - Burrito
Deluxe made a 'media' splash and lots of new fans during last week's CMA
Music Festival in Nashville. The band was not only highlighted with a cover "feature" in the June/July issue of the Nashville
Music Guide, but they were also greeted with the news that their latest CD had earned a strong review in the June 18 issue of Country Weekly magazine. Touting them as a "Country-rock supergroup,"
Music Editor Chris Neal said their latest CD, 'Disciples Of The Truth' "is the sound of a band both keeping its history alive and moving that legacy surefootedly forward." Both publications were being handed out to all festival registrants who visited the artist booths at the Nashville Convention Center .
Band members Carlton Moody and Walter Egan signed autographs and greeted fans in the Burrito Deluxe booth, making new friends, and renewing acquaintances with long-time fans who had met them on their previous tours of Europe .
Burrito Deluxe performed three shows during the event - at the Chevy Stage, On The Rocks and Cadillac Ranch. Moody and Egan were joined onstage by 'Deluxe' players, 'Supe' Granda on bass (Ozark Mountain Daredevils co-founder), Bryan Owings on drums (Buddy and Julie Miller), Marty Grebb on keys (Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks), steel man, Tony Paletta, and Justin David (Roy Clark).
In addition to 'meeting and greeting the fans,' Burrito Deluxe was interviewed by several members of the U.S. and international media during the festival, including a stand-out session with Rhapsody Music guru, Eric Shea, who self-admittedly 'geeked' out with Moody and Egan during an in-depth audio interview for the service. Very knowledgeable with the history of Burrito Deluxe, Shea was delighted as Moody talked about the band's co-founder, 'Sneaky' Pete Kleinow, (also a founding member of the legendary Flying Burrito Brothers, along with Gram Parsons), and why he was one of the most sought-after session steel guitar players that ever lived, performing on records with John Lennon, the Bee Gees, and countless others. 'When 'Sneaky' played, he went for it!, exclaimed Moody. You never knew what you were going to get - but you knew it was going to be great!' Moody also recalled one-time Burrito member, Garth Hudson, and spoke of his keyboard genius and his studio wizardry. Egan related stories of his own early days in Washington D.C. with Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, and talked about the song he wrote, 'Hearts on Fire,' which was waxed as a beautiful duet by the pair on Gram's Grievous Angel album.
