SAN ANTONIO (Top40 Charts/ San Antonio Opera PR) - San Antonio Opera announces the presentation of tenor superstar Placido Domingo in concert on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Domingo will transform the Alamodome with his legendary and magical performance.

Hailed by many as the 'King of Opera,' Domingo transcends the traditional borders of the classical voice performing everything from opera and mariachi music to Broadway and zarzuela. One of the famous 3 Tenors, his growing repertoire of 124 different roles, includes almost all-important parts in the Italian and French operas. At last count he made more then 100 authorized recordings of 65 different operas, as well as many solo and duet discs. At one time, seven of his albums appeared simultaneously on Billboard's charts of best-selling classical and crossover recordings, and eight of his recordings have sold over a million copies each, earning for him many gold and platinum records and 9 Grammy awards. He has also made over fifty opera videos and three full-fledged opera films: La Traviata and Otello, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, and Carmen, directed by Francesco Rosi.

Domingo will be accompanied by a 65-piece symphony orchestra under the direction of Maestro Eugene Kohn. Argentinean soprano, Virginia Tola will also perform with him. Seating for the performance has been modified for an intimate concert setting and Domingo's personal sound technician will be using a state of the art audio system to ensure a peak performance. The Alamodome will also be providing shuttles and golf carts to bring alluring fans right to the doors.

Underwriters for the Placido Domingo Concert include AT&T Foundation, The Tobin Endowment, Russell Hill Rogers Fund for the Arts, The Ewing Halsell Foundation, The Kronkosky Charitable Foundation, H-E-B, San Antonio Express News, Creative Civilization, City of San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs and the South Texas Money Management.

Tickets for Placido Domingo in Concert range from $25.00-$250.00 and can be purchased by calling the San Antonio Opera Box Office at 210-225-5972, or may be purchased through TICKETMASTER. Other information can be viewed at saopera.com.
