Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Katie Armiger Official Website) - On the heels of a successful performance at the 2007 CMA Music Festival, newcomer Katie Armiger is set to release her debut single, '17 In Abilene,' to radio this week. The song, which Katie co-wrote with fellow newcomer Ashlee Hewitt, showcases her skillful songwriting ability as well as her strong vocal talent. '17 In Abilene ' has already been receiving praise from radio stations across the country including the 'Dean of Nashville 's Music Writers,' Robert Oermann, who gave the single The DisCovery Award in his Music Row column. '17 In Abilene' is the quintessential carefree road trip song about the possibilities of an open road and is the first single off Katie's debut self-titled album, due out this summer.

'I think every teenager daydreams about getting in their car and taking off so we wanted to create a song that captured that carefree feeling in a catchy way,' said Katie. 'Ashlee came up with a great groove on the guitar and the song just flowed from there. I hope listeners enjoy '17 In Abilene ' as much as I enjoyed writing it.'

Katie met Ashlee through their shared producer Mark Oliverius. The two girls, who are close in age, immediately hit it off and knew that they could create music that had a positive affect on listeners, all while having a great time in the process. The pair had to use Ashlee's digital camera while writing '17 In Abilene' because they did not have a tape recorder at Katie's manager's house, which ended up capturing all the laughs in between cuts and during the recordings. But 'all laughing aside,' '17 In Abilene ' marks the arrival of a powerful new voice in country music and will have listeners in awe of what is possible from a 16 year old.

Katie Armiger has an inspiring combination of determination and passion that shines through in her music. Her voice is beyond her years; strong, skilled and dramatic, while her writing is mature, yet sincere and optimistic. Katie Armiger's self-titled debut album is set to be released on Cold River Records this summer and heralds the arrival of a distinctive vocal talent with an unforgettable array of powerful and brilliant songs.

Katie Armiger is about to hit the road on her first radio tour in support of '17 In Abilene .' For radio visit dates and more information on Katie Armiger please visit www.katiearmiger.com.
