NEW YORK (Top40 Charts/ www.deborahweisz.com) - Trombonist - composer - arranger Deborah Weisz announces the release of her new CD TRIO, with a street date set for June 12, 2007.

The project, featuring Weisz on trombone, Sheryl Bailey on guitar and Nicki Parrott on bass, is a lively mix of original compositions, and classics by Monk and Dameron. Weisz notes that much of the music is from her 'Garage' years-named for the Greenwich Village club of the same name-where the trio often performed, while the remainder of the cuts were written specifically for the album sessions.

'Being someone who is interested in diverse styles of music, this particular trio has always given me an opportunity to express my love of standards, and the clarity and space one finds as part of playing as a trio,' says Weisz.

The Chicago natives life-long love of the trombone began at age 10, and has taken her on a unique musical journey. Weisz has lived in New York City since 1993, performing a wide variety of work ranging from Broadway shows to studio recording for film and television, and the big bands of Jimmy Heath and DIVA. She has performed with Freddie Hubbard, Frank Sinatra, Roswell Rudd and others.

Her debut CD with her quintet, Breaking Up, Breaking Out, had critics raving: '…that rare debut that goes beyond showing promise to actually delivering the musical goods' [Cadence]; '…a debut to cheer' [JazzTimes]; 'This is Post Bop Modernism at its best' [Jimmy Heath]. Regarding her second CD, Grace, released in 2005, pianist/composer Jim McNeely wrote, 'Weisz has developed a personal voice as both a trombonist and composer/arranger…she makes a powerful statement on the potential of modern small group jazz.'

Along with her career as a performer/composer, Weisz has taught at Rutgers University, the NY Pops Educational Programs, and as an educational specialist for Conn-Selmer, Inc.

TRIO is currently available from North Country Distribution, CDBaby.com, Cadence Record Sales and other outlets. Visit www.deborahweisz.com for a tour calendar, complete discography, bio and additional info.

Deborah will be appearing as part of the Tromobophila Festival at The Stone, Avenue C at 2nd Street in New York City on June 14, at 8pm. Visit www.cmcinthyre.com/tromobophilia.htm for more information.
