Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ St. George Records) - After a series of appearances in Las Vegas during the Academy of Country Music Awards Week, Sonny Burgess makes his way to Waxahachie, Texas to perform at Country Thunder USA on Sunday, May 27th at 6:00PM.

"Country Thunder is such a wonderful event. I will be sharing the stage with a diverse set of artists," Burgess stated. "All of the acts have their own styles making it fun and entertaining for everyone. Not to mention, it is nice that this event takes place on my own turf."

Growing up in Cleburne, Texas (about an hour away from Waxahachie) Sonny Burgess was surrounded by country music. Just down the road from Fort Worth, Sonny was immersed in the music his family loved. Hank Williams, Glen Campbell, Roy Clark and Chet Atkins were the regular musical fare during the evenings as Sonny and family gathered to sing and play on the front porch. Inspired by the stories woven in the touching and haunting melodies, Sonny taught himself to play the guitar at a young age.

Sonny quickly grew into his own as a player and singer. When he played for a live audience, he really liked how that felt. From his first public performance in the second grade, he was hooked. Burgess added, "I have many great memories from playing around my hometown. I always look forward to playing for the local folks who have supported me throughout the years. This year's Country Thunder will allow me to do that."
