Miranda Lambert Official Website) -
Miranda Lambert first gained national attention as a third-place finisher on the initial season of the TV series Nashville Star. It seems a lifetime ago for the 23-year old singer/songwriter. Her debut album, 'Kerosene,' was recently certified platinum, and Lambert is celebrating her second nomination as Top New Female Vocalist in the 2007 Academy of Country
Music Awards . GAC's Lorianne Crook peels away the layers of Lambert's rowdy persona in Academy of Country
Music and GAC Present…Miranda Lambert, airing April 23 at 8 p.m. ET on Great American Country (GAC),
Lambert's new album is called 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,' and she concedes that her choice of song titles, coupled with her sometimes manic on-stage demeanor may leave some observers with a certain impression.
'I've got kind of a 'crazy' theme going there,' Lambert tells Crook, admitting that she feels much calmer once the show's over and the stage lights are turned out.
'I'm really domestic, and people are so shocked whenever they see that side of me,' says Lambert, who adds that, for example, she loves to bake. 'I was the president of the [home economics club] in high school, but I can't sew on a button to save my life.'
Lambert recently bought 400 acres of East Texas ranch land, a place where she says she can retreat and hunt deer, turkey and wild hogs with her father. Still, Lambert admits she has a soft place in her heart for animals, especially her new Lab, Delilah, adopted recently from an animal shelter.
'I was walking through and saw this little white dog in the back of her cage and she just looked so sad and I was immediately drawn to her…and I ended up bringing her home,' says Lambert, conceding that she found it hard to keep a dry eye during the experience. 'I think there were maybe a few tears. I'm still a girly-girl, or parts of me are.'
