Sydney, AU. (Top40 Charts/ EMI MUSIC Australia) - PUBS, TRUCKS AND PLAINS, the latest celebration of songs by Slim Dusty, has this week reached No 1 on the Motorola ARIA Australian Country Chart. The 3 CD, 60 song set was released 2 weeks ago, to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the recording of Australia's first ever hit single, 'A Pub With No Beer'. The album not only celebrates his iconic drinking songs, but also the other two hugely popular songwriting themes (ie songs about trucks & the land) from which Slim drew during his amazing career spanning 60 years. Slim's wife Joy McKean said today, 'Slim and his mate Gordon would never have believed that 50 years on, their 'A Pub With No Beer' collaboration would be the focus of a No 1 Australian album ...looks like Slim was really wrong all those years back when it was decided to put it just on the B-Side of his 'Saddle Boy' record. Thanks to everyone out there for their support for this very special 50th Anniversary. Number 1, that's really great!!' PUBS, TRUCKS AND PLAINS has also climbed to No 21 on the Motorola ARIA Australian Albums Chart, proof that Slim Dusty's legacy remains strong and his popularity as a recording artist hasn't wavered. It's also interesting to note a new generation of artists now acknowledge Slim as a musical influence. Slim Dusty has collected more gold and platinum accredited albums than any other Australian artist. 'Pubs, Trucks And Plains' Is Out Now
