AVENTURA, FL. (Top40 Charts/ Piper Records) - New blues indie artist, MDR, reaches No 1 on the Top 100 Blues album charts in the US iTunes Music Store this year. As the term "indie" is defined as "independence from commercial pop music and mainstream culture and an autonomous, do-it-yourself (DIY) approach," new blues indie artist "MDR" has successfully written, recorded, and self-produced a simple yet catchy blues album titled "Oscar in the Drink." His "stay true to the blues" philosophy has clearly contributed to the album's climb to the top.
Whether overnight success or 15 minutes of fame, the point of surpassing his idols and blues legends, such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lee Hooker, BB King, The Blues Brothers, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, Albert King, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy, and new runners Jonny Lang and Joss Stone, has shown that "indies" can still compete with the "majors."

With the success of the iTunes Music Store, "MDR" is expected to release more digital albums in the coming months. His goal is to continue writing blues lyrics to help all people deal with the stress and daily struggles of life, while "staying true to the blues." Look for the next "MDR" album to be released in mid-April through the iTunes Music Store.
