NASHVILLE , TN. (Top40 Charts/ BNA Records) - Sometimes you just need a clean slate. So when singer/songwriter
Terri Clark signed with BNA Records last year, who knew the first single she would release would be so … dirty? And Clark gets downright filthy. Her debut single, 'Dirty Girl,' is a hard-charging anthem to four-wheeling excitement, prowess under the hood of a car and, well, just good, clean fun.
A commanding performer and one of the rare female country artists capable of throwing down some impressive guitar work, Terri previewed the song two weeks ago at the annual Country Radio Seminar and immediately caught the attention of all those present. Although the official add date is not until April 2, the song has already found its way onto the country singles chart.
On her new single, Terri said, 'I had a hand in writing 'Dirty Girl' in a roundabout way. It was written by Tom Shapiro and Rivers Rutherford, and they originally wrote the song for a guy, and the first time I heard it, it really caught me. I loved the melody, I loved the music, but it was a guy singing to a girl, saying, you know, 'I like it when you get a little dirty girl, I like it when you get cleaned up on Sundays.' So I took it home, started messing around with it, and reworked it. I took the song to Tom and Rivers and they loved the change.
'Rivers is from Mississippi , so it has a little bit of that grit to it that I really love, and it's tough. I have a good time singing it, and we've been playing it in the show for six months, and people have been going crazy over it since day one, they really love it. Especially the part where I go, 'I'll be your dirty girl,'' she laughed.
The 'Dirty Girl' ringtone is now available from all major carriers and her website at www.terriclark.com. Terri's debut album on the BNA Records label will be available in the summer.
