Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ www.chrisyoungcountry.com) - Chris Young received his first career nomination this morning for Top New Male Vocalist at this year's Academy of Country Music Awards. Young is one of three artists to be nominated in this category which will be announced live from Las Vegas ' MGM Grand on May 15, 2007 at 8pm ET on CBS. Last October, Young burst onto the country scene with his self-titled debut album which was the highest selling debut by a male country artist in 2006.

"I am so excited," said Young. "This is such an honor and something I have dreamed of since I was a kid."

Young's first single 'Drinkin' Me Lonely' charted last fall and was described by Michael McCall of the Associate Press a 'a classic, tear-in-his-beer barroom heartbreaker equal to those by such honky-tonk heroes like Randy Travis or the late Keith Whitley.'

Mario Tarradell of the Dallas Morning News has labeled Young 'a triple threat.' He can sing, blessed with a smooth yet penetrating baritone... he can write a song... and he has star quality....'

Chris Young, produced by Buddy Cannon (Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans), features several songs that Young wrote or co-wrote including 'Lay It On Me,' 'Small Town Big Time' ' Center Of My World ' and 'Drinkin' Me Lonely' which he performed on his debut appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

Young was voted the No 1 Hottest Bachelor in a fan-voted contest by Country Weekly, topping a list that included Kenny Chesney, Gary Allan and Keith Anderson. Listen for his new single 'You're Gonna Love Me' on country radio this month.
