Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Gretchen Wilson Official Website) - Gretchen Wilson was on her way to Houston for tomorrow's performance at the famed Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when she received word that had been nominated for her duet with Merle Haggard on 'Politically Uncorrect' and the rousing multi-artist Hank Williams, Jr. single 'That's How They Do It In Dixie' in the Vocal Event of the Year category for the upcoming 42nd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

"The ACMs will always be special to me, since that was the first award show I got to perform on,' said Wilson . 'To be in two vocal events is really cool, especially since I got to do them with legends like Merle Haggard and Hank, Jr."

'What I love about 'Politically Uncorrect' is that when I listened to it the first time, I got the sense that it's just like the perfect political stance for a musical artist,' she said. 'We don't wanna talk about politics. I kinda follow Montgomery-Gentry's lead on that, they've got the greatest answer. 'What the hell are you asking me that for? I'm a country singer.' I can tell you the day I heard it on the radio was one of the highest points of my life. It's unbelievable, just the feeling that overcomes me as soon as Merle's vocal kicks in on that, it's like 'Oh, my God, I can't believe that's him.'"

Gretchen's debut single 'Come To Bed' from her upcoming third album continues to make a steady rise up the country charts. Following a West Coast run over the next two weeks, she will be back in Nashville for a Grand Ole Opry appearance on March 17 and a concert at Nashville 's Wildhorse Saloon on March 23.
