Nashville, TN. (Top40-Charts/ Sells Records) - Joe Nichols' hit single, 'I'll Wait for You,' is connecting with fans everywhere. Not only has his current album, III, shown an increase in sales of over 247%, but it has also moved 42 chart positions on the Billboard Country Album chart. The single is currently at No 11 on the BDS charts and No 12 on the Mediabase charts, and with each week the increase in spins has resulted in an increase of sales.
Due to the demand of the single and the overwhelming response Joe is receiving from fans when performing the song on the road, a new version of the video was shot recently using the original audio track for the single. The stripped down original version of the song - the acoustic track as it is being called - is saturated with more than 60 strings as well as acoustic guitar and piano.
According to Fletcher Foster, SR, VP/GM, Universal Records South, the idea to shoot a more stripped down music video 'seemed the natural thing to do after hearing the original track.' Foster went on to say, 'The powerful lyrics -written by two of the our best songwriters, Bill Anderson and Harley Allen - combined with the moving instrumentation and Joe's timeless vocals, married the video to a soundtrack in a simple but powerful way.'
CMT will world premier the video this week on the Top 20 Countdown, where Nichols will appear as a guest. GAC will begin airing the new video this week as well.
The new video, directed by Chris Hicky, has a completely different approach to it. Shot in black and white, with a more organic feel and the focus being on Nichols, the lyrics take on a life of their own, allowing the audience to relate to the song and interpret the video in their own way. 'This version is completely different from the last,' said Nichols, 'the strings add even more emotion to the lyrics of the song and we wanted to convey that emotion by shooting a new version of the video.'
Nichols has won every new artist award available in the field of country music: the prestigious Horizon Award from the Country Music Association, Top New Male Vocalist from the Academy of Country Music, and Country Music Television's Breakthrough Video of the Year. He was the first artist ever to win all three of these awards. He has also received four Grammy nominations, including Best Country Album and Best Country Male Vocal Performance (two consecutive years), and Best Country Song for his No 1 debut single "The Impossible."
