Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ BNA Entertainment) - Reflecting on his recent visit to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ,
Pat Green recalls a phone conversation with his wife the night before the visit. 'I remember she told me, 'Ya know, tomorrow is going to be a hard day for you. I bet it hits you square in the chest,'' Pat recalls.
Pat took part in the annual St. Jude Radio Training Seminar in Memphis . The seminar unites nearly 900 attendees from across the country, all of whom are dedicated to the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children's Research. 'I was very impressed by the people at the hospital and the almost palpable feeling of hope that permeated the entire building. We learned a great deal about what was going on there in a very short time,' he said. 'I was impressed by all the ground-breaking work that was happening on a daily basis there.'
But as a father and spiritual man, the real impact came from the children. 'The pulse of the hospital, however, was not in the impressive structure, or the most excellent staff. The soul of that magical place lived in the children and families who were seeking help there. They possessed a faith and hope inside themselves that was greater than in any other humans I have ever come in contact with,' says Pat. 'I was completely overcome.'
'I know for sure that I would like to go back there when there are no cameras or press, just to be there in whatever capacity I can be useful. Godspeed to everyone who has ever seen, or will see, what I saw that day. And as usual, my wife was right, not only was it a day that hit me in the chest, it was a day that left a lasting impression on me,' Pat concluded.
