Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Rounder Records)-The Grascals won two awards- Instrumental Group of the Year and Bluegrass Band of the Year-at the 33rd Annual SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards show held in Nashville last night. This is the second consecutive year that the band took home the trophy for Instrumental Group. 'Thank you for supporting bluegrass music, for coming to our shows and buying our music-and for liking it enough to vote for us,' Grascals' vocalist Jamie Johnson told the crowd. 'These awards mean so much to us because you, the fans, do the voting.' The band also turned in a blistering six-song set and presented two awards during the ceremony. This Sunday will find The Grascals at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, where their sophomore release on Rounder Records, Long List of Heartaches, is nominated for Best Bluegrass Album. On Monday, February 12, the band will perform with their good friend, singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley, on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS Television/12:35 a.m. ET/PT). They will perform 'Prodigal Son's Prayer'-a bluegrass song written by Bentley, recorded at Charles Bass Correctional Complex in Nashville, and featuring The Grascals-which is included on Bentley's critically acclaimed album, Long Trip Alone.
