NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Lost Highway Records) - On February 13, Lost Highway will release West, the new album from acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams. West is a 13-song collection of new material from the artist Time magazine named "America's Best Songwriter". West is Lucinda's eighth studio album and the follow up to her Grammy- nominated album World Without Tears (2003) and her Grammy-winning albums Essence (2001) and Car Wheels On A Gravel Road (1998). Lucinda Williams is a true original who completely defies categorization. Her songs are an extraordinary amalgamation of honesty, beauty, bravery, sexuality, intelligence, compassion, raw emotion and tenderness. Her lyrics are often compared to great poetry and fine literary writing. Her voice can melt you with its delicate tone one moment, and rivet you with a growl like Howlin' Wolf reincarnated the next. West showcases all sides of this multi- dimensional artist. From the beautiful opening track "Are You Alright?", to the sultry folk of "Where Is My Love?" to the grit of "Come On", Lucinda holds nothing back as she deals with love, loss and the state of the world we live in. In the thought-provoking "What If" she asks "What would it mean / If the president wore pink / Or if a prostitute was queen". In "Rescue", Lucinda recognizes the limitations of a love as she sings "He can't change you / Change the summers of your beauty / The thunderstorms within your purity." West was co-produced by Lucinda Williams and the eclectic Hal Wilner (Elvis Costello, Lou Reed, Bill Frisell) and recorded at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles, CA. Guest musicians featured on West include Bill Frisell, Jim Keltner, Gary Louris, Tony Garnier and Lucinda's long-time guitarist Doug Petibone.
