New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) - On February 6th, Bloc Party's highly anticipated sophomore album, A WEEKEND IN THE CITY, will hit stores nationwide. On March 11th, Bloc Party will be returning to the US to start their very first American tour supporting A WEEKEND IN THE CITY, playing all new songs and generally doing what Bloc Party does best - delivering a wildly energetic live show to rapturous response from audiences across the country. The tour will feature support by Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes, Final Fantasy, Sebastian Grangier, The Like and Smoosh on various dates. A pre-sale for these shows is happening currently on Marshals, Bloc Party's fan club website (www.blocparty.com/marshals), and a general on-sale will begin on January 13th.

Bloc Party's newest album, A WEEKEND IN THE CITY, is already garnering early praise, with Spin Magazine saying it is 'sure to be one of 2007's best,' and UK single 'The Prayer' ending up on Rolling Stone's Hot List this past November. The album is inspired by lead singer Kele Okereke's interest in what he calls 'the living noise of a metropolis.' On WEEKEND, the band captures every detail - from the ebullient to the mundane - of daily life in a modern city, and the quiet desolation that suffuses everything from commuting to casual sex, from going out on a Friday night to the long ride home near the early hours of the morning. Not since Radiohead's OK Computer has a British band explored the diseased state of modernity so completely.

Select independent music retailers, including Newbury Comics and stores in the Coalition of Independent Music Stores, The Alliance of Independent Media Stores and The Music Monitor Network, will give away a free, limited-edition 7" of 'The Prayer,' with exclusive b-side 'England,' available only with purchase of the album.
