Nashville, TN. (BNA Entertainment) - Multi-platinum selling group Lonestar will kick off the new year at Underground Atlanta for the 18th Annual Peach Drop Celebration, which has become one of the largest New Year's Eve countdown celebrations in the southeast. Lonestar, who is originally from Texas, will return to the south to perform about an hour set of some of their No 1 hits as well as songs from their latest album Mountains, on the 'Main Stage' located on Upper Alabama Street starting at 11:30pm. 'We are so excited to be a part of the 18th Annual Peach Drop Celebration,' said Richie McDonald. 'Who wouldn't be excited to be a part of such an amazing southern tradition where thousands come together to ring in the new year by watching an 800-pound peach drop? It should be a good time.' Last year more than 175,000 spectators came to downtown Atlanta to ring in the New Year and with Lonestar taking part in this year's celebration that number is expected to climb. Set against the backdrop of the Atlanta skyline, the magnificent 800-pound peach that the celebration is known for will begin its much-anticipated 58 second decent shortly before midnight . Following the Peach Drop, party goers will be able to take part in a breathtaking fireworks display while showers of colorful confetti rain down on them. The live shows and celebrations will later be turned into a one-hour regionally syndicated television show. Lonestar, who has more No 1 singles under their belt than any other country group this decade, have shown no signs of slowing down with a rigorous touring schedule across the U.S in support of their 9th studio album Mountains .
