LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - Mariah Carey has finally found a new home. Since parting ways with Virgin Records in January, the singer had been in talks with several labels before landing on Island Def Jam Music Group. While a source can confirm that the deal with Island is complete, an official announcement or details of the contract have yet to be revealed. Though, Carey is expected to have her own imprint through the deal. Following the dismal sales of Carey's last album, the soundtrack to her ill-fated motion picture debut, Glitter, she left EMI's Virgin with a buy-out of approximately $28 million. Soon after, the label suffered severe layoffs. A spokesperson at Island Def Jam couldn't be reached at press time for comment.
