Austin,
Texas (Mix Tank Records) - Mix Tank Records and The Dirty Dog announced today that To Be Continued Brass Band (TBC), an eleven-member brass band out of New Orleans will be playing at the Dirty Dog following a performance from local Austin treasure, Dwayne "D-Madness" Jackson. D-Madness is a diversified artist, singer, drummer, bassist, keyboard player who recently launched the release of his new solo album, "It's Time." The album will be available for sale at Saturday's performance.
D-Madness has deep roots in Austin. First attending Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired at the age of eight, he was recognized early for his musical gifts and accelerated into a young music program. As a child, D-Madness played the violin, baritone and trombone and in the marching band, bass in jazz band and keyboards on the side. His flare for love ballads, inspirational songs, jazz and reggae tunes make his musical style unique to people of all walks of life. He received international attention after collaborating on "Life Goes On," with premier Japanese Krush.
TBC was evacuated from the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina left them all homeless. Eight members of the band are currently living in various shelters in New Orleans and three are living in Birmingham, Alabama and attend Miles College on a music scholarship. Since Hurricane Katrina, the band has had to meet up in tour cities in an effort to play as a group together. TBC will travel in from shelter cities on Thursday, November 2nd to promote the performance. TBC began playing in high school and became a permanent fixture on a corner in the French Quarter. They have opened for such bands as The Roots, and played with Jill Scott, Deerhoof and TV On the Radio.
Prior to Hurricane Katrina, TBC was on the way to a very promising musical career. In an effort to continue playing as a group, the band, including their manager, Tracie Towns who was relocated in Virginia, has overcome enormous hardships after being separated and displaced to various cities. TBC's 11-member band members include Chris Davis, Brandon Franklin, Darren Towns, Sean Robertson, Tyrone Brown, Norimitsui Hirata, Joe Maize Jr., Glenn Preston, Edward Jackson III, Carlos Armstrong, and Brenard Adams.
