Minneapolis, MN (Red Haired Girl Publicity / Doug Spartz) - Minnesota based singer-songwriter Doug Spartz has been making his mark on the largest country radio stations in
America with his independent hit "Name on the Wall". The song is a duet with the European Country
Music Association's 2006 "Male Vocalist of the Year", Todd Fritsch. The song, "Name on the Wall", is a poignant story about a family dealing with their son away at war. Spartz is quickly becoming the voice of the unheard families currently dealing with that exact situation. "Name on the Wall" is gripping the attention of radio and press across the nation, garnering airplay on hundreds of stations, including XM, Sirius, Emmis Communication and Clear Channel.
On Wednesday, September 28th, the nationally syndicated show, After MidNite with Blair Garner, featured "Name on the Wall" during their Pick It or Flick It segment. The song was picked as a hit by listener survey participants. The next day, Country Aircheck named Doug Spartz's "Name on the Wall" as their Country Aircheck Daily Shaker, supported by Mediabase 24/7 tracking data, which shows that it has the biggest spin increase by a previously uncharted song.
Doug Spartz is no stranger to the music scene, once being named "Rising Star of the Year" by the Country Music Association of America for his song "Stayin' Young is Getting Old". His songs were consistently in the top 10 on the MAC Report and other independent charts. Many Gavin stations around the U.S. made Doug a staple on secondary radio. His latest CD release has already hit No 20 on the Americana Music Association chart, and will be featured in the upcoming R&R (Radio & Records) Magazine interview with the AMA Executive Director, Jeff Green.
Spartz has penned some of the best songs yet, including his latest release, "Name on the Wall", co-written with Doug Deforest. While big label acts have long held the forefront of the music industry, the digital era has helped open the door for indie artists like Doug Spartz. His songwriting style touches people in the way only someone can through the voice of experience and wisdom. Besides "Name on the Wall", several songs on the album pay tribute to veterans, and will be included on national radio playlists for the upcoming Veterans Day holiday in November.
"Doug Spartz's voice is as fine an instrument as any Stradivarius ever made. Quite simply, I've never heard anything quite like it!" -John Hendricks, Music Choice TV (& first radio personality to add CD to playlist!)
"Every time I hear 'Name On the Wall' and 'The Rocket (Number 29)' I have to wipe the tears from my eyes and my computer screen." -Bobby Leach, Clear Channel Worldwide
