ORLANDO, FL. (Five Star Iris Official Website) - Five Star Iris' first full-length release is set to hit stores Tuesday, October 3, 2006. The new self-titled CD, produced by Grammy-winning producer Sylvia Massy Shivy (Tool, R.E.M., Tom Petty and Johnny Cash) and Rich Veltrop, includes two tracks, "Anyway" and "All I Am," which were co-written with Collective Soul's Ed Roland.

Based in Atlanta, the members of Five Star Iris (5SI) pride themselves on their ability to create music with enduring substance. "My father used to say that communication makes friends and a lack of communication makes enemies," recalls Alan Schaefer, Five Star Iris's lead singer and guitarist. "It's an interesting concept from a songwriting perspective because people not knowing how to express themselves has caused everything from broken hearts to wars."

Two of the new album's tracks have already received international recognition and praise from their songwriting colleagues around the world. "Let It All Out" was the winner of the 2005 UK Songwriting contest in the Rock/Indie category and "Is There Something I Can Do" was a semi-finalist in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition in the Pop/Rock Category.

While working hard on the first full-length album, Five Star Iris was one of the featured artists at the 2005 Atlantis Music Conference, the 2006 NARM Convention in Orlando, the 2006 British Virgin Island's Musicfest and Star94's 2006 Star Fest in Atlanta with Train, Pink and Nickel Creek. Five Star Iris also performed on the 2006 Rock Boat music cruise and has already signed on for the 2007 cruise with Collective Soul, Better Than Ezra and Sister Hazel. The band has enjoyed commercial airplay in multiple radio formats in more than 40 markets in the U.S. and has supported acts such as Switchfoot, Fuel, Collective Soul and Hinder.

Be sure to check out Five Star Iris at a venue near you this fall. Five Star Iris' contagious rock melodies and pop-inspired bridges will have you hooked! Don't miss the band's special Atlanta record release show at Smith's Olde Bar Friday, October 13th where you can buy a $10 ticket and get a free copy of their new CD.
