NASHVILLE, TN. (By Kissy Black/ Lotos Nile Media) - Texas Gubernatorial candidate and songwriter extraordinaire Kinky Friedman is appearing on Fox & Friends, Imus in the Morning and Scarborough Country this week in anticipation of his upcoming album release Why the Hell Not…The Songs of Kinky Friedman. The album, which bows September 26 at retail, features some of the biggest artists in Texas putting their own unique spin on Kinky's politically incorrect songs, including Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam. Friedman guests on Imus and Scarborough Country on Thursday, Sept. 21and Fox & Friends on Friday, Sept. 22. In addition, he can be heard live September 21 on Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 147, the 'Freewheelin' with Meredith Ochs and Chris T.' program, on Road Dog Trucking Radio. An album spotlight will be taped for later broadcast on Sirius' 'Outlaw Country' Friedman will also interview with liberal Sirius talk show host Alex Bennett of 'The Alex Bennett Program.' and Jay Thomas from "The Jay Thomas Show." Artist Charlie Robison will perform his version of Friedman's 'Wild Man From Borneo' live on Imus in early October. The song is the first single from the album and Robison perfectly captures the poignancy and innate humanity in this story about a circus sideshow performer. Friedman is currently No. 2 in the polls behind incumbent Ricky Perry in the race for the Texas governor's office. Because of his choice in subject matter, Kinky is often overlooked as a great songwriter. There's always been a method to his madness however, and he makes people laugh while exploring serious societal issues. This singular ability to engage listeners' hearts and heads has made him a hero to discerning music fans the world over. The new album puts the focus back on Kinky's songwriting. He has also written more than 23 critically acclaimed and commercially successful novels.
