Either for dancing or listening, Havana Nights offers a flavorful mix of authentic Cuban music. From rumba and cha cha cha, to bolero, mambo, danzon, charanga, salsa and Latin Jazz, Havana Nights band performs the tasty old Cuban music from the 30's, 40's and 50's.
The band is composed of the following instruments: bass, piano, timbales, congas, flute/sax and vocalist. A brass section for 10 pieces can be added, as well as augmenting to Big Band orchestra size of 18 musicians. Havana Nights featured performers are flutist/saxophonist/vocalist Bobby Ramirez and vocalist Sandra Medina.
An intense performer and improviser on the saxophone and flute, Ramirez holds a firm command of the jazz language drawing from a deep vocabulary of colorful sounds and rhythms, as well as his unique "Old skool" Latin charanga style that is guaranteed to get everyone dancing "con tremendo swing." And equally capable are his skills as a composer and arranger. Whether leading his 5-10 piece music ensemble, or as the guest soloist with a 20-piece orchestra, Ramirez takes his audience on a musical journey that is both entertaining and educational. His critical acclaimed CD entitled "Ritmo Jazz Latino" has made the playlists of many radio stations throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe.
While Ramirez is based out of Miami Florida, he is often invited to perform at all kinds of special events, formal galas and fundraisers, corporate functions and conventions either with his band or as guest soloist leading musicians in various cities throughout the United States including New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Orlando, Naples, Hollywood California, San Francisco, Chicago, Cincinnati, New Jersey, Boston, Washington D.C. and many others.
