LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts) - The Sex Pistols have pulled the plug on a planned gig for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations in London in June, according to Reuters.

"They simply did not want to play that weekend and it will not go ahead," said John Giddings, managing director of London-based music promotions company Solo, which is organizing the event, as quoted by Reuters.

Instead, plans are in the works for the Sex Pistols to get together for another gig, possibly at London's Crystal Palace National Sports Stadium on July 21, although nothing had been confirmed at press time.

Over 2 million people have applied for just 24,000 tickets to the Golden Jubilee concerts, set for June 1 and 3 on the grounds of Buckingham Palace. While the first show, dubbed Prom at the Palace, features classical acts, the June 3 event, Party at the Palace, will feature Paul McCartney, Elton John, Queen, Tony Bennett, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Aretha Franklin, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, S Club 7, and Will Young.

Plans to reissue the Sex Pistol's "God Save the Queen" single around the time of the Golden Jubilee are on as scheduled, however.
