National Day of the Cowboy "Cowboy Keepers Award" to the Golden Boot at the 2006 Golden Boot Awards on Sat. Aug. 12, 2006 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Kimes is a spokesperson for
National Day of the Cowboy, a day set aside by Congress to pay homage to our Western history and the men and women who contribute to Western culture in America. The Cowboy Keepers Awards were inaugurated in May 2006 by the
National Day of the Cowboy organization as a way to honor individuals and organizations who are preserving our American Cowboy heritage.
Kimes, a native of Arkansas who grew up on a cattle ranch, states, "I have always believed that the Cowboy Way should be honored, so it is with great pleasure that I present the "Cowboy Keepers Award" to the Golden Boot on behalf of
National Day of the Cowboy." The Golden Boot Awards is an annual Western theme gala presented by the Motion Picture and Television Fund, featuring a cocktail party, silent and live auction, seated dinner, and awards show for over 800 guests.
