NASHVILLE, TN (SONY BMG MUSIC Entertainment) - What began as a Christmas gift for his mother has become a million-selling success with the news that Alan Jackson's ACR/Arista Nashville collection of gospel classics, Precious Memories, has been RIAA-certified Platinum. Hailed as 'a masterpiece' by Billboard, and chosen by People magazine for its Mother's Day Gift Guide earlier this year, the rich warmth of the 15-track disc has clearly struck a chord with listeners everywhere. Truly a family affair, the album also features background vocals on one song from Jackson's wife Denise and two of their daughters. Released on the encouragement of family, friends, and his record label, Jackson's Precious Memories became the only gospel recording ever to debut at No 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart, while Jackson also became the first country artist in history to debut an album of all spiritual material at No 1 on the Top Christian Albums and Top Christian & Gospel Albums charts. Jackson is currently preparing for the September 26 release of Like Red on a Rose, his first regular studio album since 2004's What I Do. The title track and first single, 'Like Red on a Rose,' has been one of country radio's hottest singles since its release, and is fast approaching the country airplay Top 20 in only its fourth week on the chart.
