NASHVILLE, TN (Arista Records) - Fresh off the success of his most recent No. 1 smash, country music sensation Phil Vassar is anticipating the release of his next Arista Records single "The Woman In My Life" on Aug. 7. As with all of the acclaimed songwriter and performer's music, the song is a personal statement - but in this case perhaps a bit more deeply felt.

Vassar, you see, is a man's man in a woman's world. He is the only male in a family comprised of his mother, two sisters (both of whom have daughters), his wife and his own two daughters. "My mother is the inspiration in my life," Vassar explains. "She was at all my ball games, supported me in every way and really was the one constant in my life. That's how this song idea got started."

That seed grew as Vassar considered the place his wife Julie has in his heart, and the unconditional love he receives from his two young daughters. "Julie really encourages me in this crazy career I've chosen, no matter how long I'm on the road or how tough it gets," Vassar says. "And there is such a special bond in the father-daughter relationship."

"The Woman In My Life" follows chart-topper "Last Day Of My Life," both of which are featured on Vassar's current album, Greatest Hits. Like the artist himself, his latest release is anything but ordinary. Rather than compile a traditional collection of his hits, Vassar recorded fresh versions of hit songs he wrote for acts like Tim McGraw and Jo Dee Messina, well before his own artist career catapulted him to stardom.

The new single is already proving to be a favorite in Vassar's live show, which is arguable one of the most-highly regarded live draws in the business. Just this summer, the Chicago Tribune and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel have hailed recent stops in those cities.
