New York, NY (Top 40 Charts/ Trine Records) -
Jessica Domain, a singer/songwriter and a long time background artist of Aretha Franklin, starts her residency at New York's famous Bitter End May 3rd. "Domain's musically-diverse palette draws upon an abundance of moods, feelings, and influences to create a sound that pulses, expands, breathes, flows - a sound like life itself,"
David Livingstone of Jam Rag writes. Drew Lavyne, producer and lead mastering engineer, agrees, "Having spent the last thirteen years listening to music for a living, I can say without hesitation there are few voices that have moved me as only Jessica's can. Her talents as a lyricist and songwriter were evident to me when I heard her first recording in 2004.
Jessica is clearly an artist on the move."
An avid fan of everything from Wilco to Outkast and with primary personal influences from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder - to name just a few - Jessica Domain is an artist stemming from the heart of Detroit. "Music has always been around me in so many forms," she explains. "Growing up as a dancer I not only worked with choreographers, but conductors and musicians in various groups, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as well. I'm privileged to have a very musical family - my dad and both my brothers play guitar, bass and keyboards."
Jessica learned the entertainment ropes quickly. Touring with Aretha Franklin for 3 years, Jessica was exposed to diverse performances, diverse audiences and uniform appreciation, which helped her develop the essential skills necessary to become the consummate signer/songwriter and performer that she is today. "Mitch Ryder was my uncle and I had the most wonderful chance to tour with Aretha Franklin for 3 years," Jessica says. "I've had some experience around extremely talented artists. But I really started finding my voice when I moved to Miami and started taking singing lessons with the most amazing vocal coach, Gina Maretta."
Recently, Jessica relocated to New York City and has graced the stage with Grammy nominee Miki Howard, C. Roger Fisher of Miami Sound Machine and blues legend Jimmy Norman. Jessica's latest CD release "Stay" has been receiving glowing reviews, and she has earned both the number one Best Female Vocalist and number one Best Production and Track of the Day titles on Garageband.com. Jessica's myspace.com page has had more than an impressive 5,000 plays since January alone. "I took my CD to every venue that would be good to perform at," Jessica explains her self-marketing strategies, so vital in the life of every independent artist these days. "Within a few months, I had put a band together and I've had the opportunity to play at prominent spots. But Kenny Gorka of the Bitter End - the club I'll start my residence at shortly - has believed in and mentored me since the day we met."
Writing and performing her own material, Jessica submits herself completely over to the music when she sings. "Letting go when you perform is the most amazing feeling you can ever have," she says. "And you can't fake it." Critics around the world agree. "Jessica's voice is confident, clear and bright - the epitome of 'polished',"Joseph McCombs of Digital Music Weekly writes. Roger Friedman of Foxnews.com demands everybody go see Jessica perform live: "When she's on the Grammys in two years, you can say you've seen
