NASHVILLE, TN (Rascal Flatts Official Website) - Rascal Flatts was featured on the cover of the March 27 issue of Country Weekly magazine as the first of a 3-part series. In the follow-up issue dated April 10, Jay DeMarcus is the focus of a 'my story' feature, the second in the series. Gary LeVox was the first feature and the third piece will highlight the life of band member Rascal Flatts in the April 24 issue.
'You might find this hard to believe,' says DeMarcus, 'but I was the class clown as a kid {grins}. And I wasn't a very good student. My mind was in the clouds. I wanted to make music.'

In the feature DeMarcus reveals a huge motivator in his quest for a musical career was his high school guidance counselor, Mr. Zehr, who would continually tell him that the odds in making it were very slim. He needed something to fall back on. In the summer of 2005, Rascal Flatts played a concert in DeMarcus' hometown of Columbus, Ohio, attended by 26,000 people, and DeMarcus yelled from the stage 'I hope Mr. Zehr's here tonight.'
Fans can see personal childhood photos of DeMarcus at age 2, 4, 7 and 18.
