Nashville, TN (Steve Azar Official Website) - Country music singer/songwriter Steve Azar recently visited the new US 82 Bridge construction site near his Delta home. He toured one of the two main bridge towers, which included a climb to the top, some 425 feet above the Mississippi river - that's higher than any building in the state of Mississippi. The hair-raising adventure will be part of an upcoming one-hour television documentary titled, "Second Crossing: The Mississippi Delta's Landmark Bridge," documenting the construction of the bridge. Azar, who speaks frequently about his life on the Delta and the Mississippi River in his music, will serve as narrator for the project and has recorded several songs especially for the documentary. The original Greenville Bridge and the construction site of the new bridge were both seen in Azar's 2003 music video "Waitin' On Joe", which featured Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. The new bridge is one of the largest being built in the world today and will open to traffic in the spring of 2009. "I'm so happy to be involved with this program because my life and my roots are so embedded in this place and because the old Greenville Bridge is a very personal thing for me," says Azar. "We used to camp out under the bridge and I wrote a lot of songs there. It was a place for inspiration." Some of Azar's biggest hits include "I Don't Have To be Me ('Til Monday)" and "Waitin' On Joe". He has recently signed a joint venture with his own label, Dang Records and Midas Records Nashville. A new album titled Indianola, Azar's most personal commentary yet on his Delta roots, is set for release early this fall. For latest news on Steve Azar, visit www.steveazar.com
