NASHVILLE, TN (ACM) - Carrie Underwood co-hosted the press conference to announce nominees for the Academy of Country Music Awards this morning in Nashville with group Rascal Flatts and Hannah Storm of the CBS Early Show. The nominations were read live on the show and Underwood was elated to learn of her first nominations. Underwood received 4 nominations as Female Vocalist, Top New Female Vocalist, Song & Single of The Year for her 6-week No 1 single 'Jesus, Take The Wheel.' Underwood receives the most nominations for any female solo artist.

'I was just so proud to be asked to read the nominations of the other artists,' says Underwood. 'To be among the names was so unexpected. I can't believe my name is among the other amazing female vocalists. And I'm so thankful to all of Nashville and the country music fans who have embraced me.'

If Underwood wins both the Top New Female Vocalist and Female Vocalist categories she will be only the second artist to do so in the Academy's 41 year history.
Underwood is slated to perform on the '41st Annual ACM Awards,' which will be broadcast live from the Las Vegas MGM Hotel on May 23 on the CBS Television Network, 8 p.m.
