INDIANAPOLIS (indyjazzfest.net) - The 2006 Indy Jazz Fest presented by Kroger will be held June 16-18, in Military Park, downtown Indianapolis. This family-oriented three-day event offers multiple stages that feature top national, regional and local musicians. The musical genres represented by the artists include jazz, blues, roots, rhythm & blues, gospel and more.

Now in its eighth year, the Indy Jazz Fest presented by Kroger has become a tradition of excellence in live music for the whole family. The American Pianists Association (APA), producer of the Indy Jazz Fest presented by Kroger, will unveil the complete artist line-up for this year's Festival at an invitation-only event in early spring at The Jazz Kitchen at 5377 N. College Ave in Indianapolis, IN.

In order to showcase and support musicians from the hurricane-ravaged city of New Orleans, the APA is adding a special "New Orleans Day" to the Festival. In addition, favorite components such as local artisans, educational activities, health screenings at the Anthem Health Screening Tent, local food vendors and non-profit booths will again round out this cultural event.

Kroger is returning as presenting sponsor for the eighth year in a row with support also coming from Locke Reynolds, State Farm Insurance, St. Vincent, Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Veolia Water, Publicis and Optimedia, Donatos Pizza, Omni Severin, The Murat and Anheuser Busch/Zink Distributing.

Tom Henry is serving as event chair with Roe Wright as co-chair for this year's event. These two volunteers have had extensive roles with the festival since its inception.

Over the years, the Indy Jazz Fest presented by Kroger has included favorites such as Tony Bennett, Bruce Hornsby, Patti LaBelle, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, Aretha Franklin, Poncho Sanchez, Ray Charles, Dave Brubeck, B.B. King, Chris Isaak, Jonny Lang, Norah Jones and local favorites such as Jennie DeVoe, the Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra and Cathy Morris.
