Nashville, TN (Billy Yates Official Website) - For the past 2 years, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, Billy Yates, has enjoyed widespread recognition among country music fans around the world. While performing more than 100 shows all over
Europe during the past two years, Yates and his M.O.D. (my own damn) Record Label decided to start releasing singles there. "To my amazement, those singles were so incredibly supported by radio presenters and fans alike", says Yates. "Our first single went straight to number one, the second did the same and the craziness hasn't stopped". On the UK based CHI HotDisc chart which is one of the longest established charts in Europe, Yates has held the number 1 spot during 2005 for 17 weeks. On the that same chart's Independent accounting, Yates has held the number 1 spot for a stunning 26 weeks during '05.
After headlining a number of European festivals in 2005 and after seeing crowds in excess of 10,000 people, 2006 holds great things in store for the Missouri raised, Nashville based singer. "While working even harder as a Nashville based songwriter this year, I'll perform another 40 -50 shows in Europe and the UK, focusing on higher profile venues. We'll also incorporate more TV appearances and radio visits this year with our main focus on making country music as popular in this part of the world as possible."
Yates will perform a number of shows here in the U.S. this year, including his hosting of the classic WSM radio program, "The Midnite Jamboree" heard around the world on Sirius Satellite and on the historic WSM-AM 650 radio station in Nashville. That show will be January 28th. Also watch for Billy during the CMA Music Festival in June.
Billy Yates has had over 40 songs recorded by some of Nashville's finest including Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Sara Evans, Gary Allan, Joe Nichols, John Michael Montgomery and Tracy Lawrence, not to mention the award winning George Jones classics, "I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair" and "Choices".
