NASHVILLE, TN (COWBOY CRUSH Official Website) - The five gals of COWBOY CRUSH (Trenna, Becky, Debbie, Renae and Darla Rae) have been invited to Lake Placid, NY to perform at the Chevrolet Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge. The three-day event will take place this weekend (January 5-7, 2006) at the Verizon Sports Complex in Lake Placid, NY.
The Chevrolet Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge is a fund raising event for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project—a not-for-profit initiative that provides Made in America bobsleds for the United States Men's and Women's bobsled teams used in Olympic games, World Cup and World Championships. In this year's racing competition/challenge in Lake Placid, 10 NASCAR drivers will pilot the specialty-crafted sleds and COWBOY CRUSH (Curb/Asylum) will perform in one of the greatest shows on ice.
COWBOY CRUSH is scheduled to arrive in Lake Placid in the company of the VIP NASCAR drivers the afternoon of Friday, January 6. That evening, they will perform at a special intimate gathering for the drivers, sponsors and their guests at a $100-a-plate dinner for the benefit of the Geoff Bodine Challenge at Nicola's on Main Street in Lake Placid. (Proceeds will be donated to the Bo-Dyn Bobsled, Inc.)
The gals will officially kick off the on-ice action Saturday morning, January 7, with their a cappella rendition of the National Anthem. ESPN will tape their performance and participation in the festivities along with the races as a part of a Reality TV special that is scheduled to air in a one-hour program on Sunday, January 29 (4PM CT/5PM ET). In addition, the Speed Channel will air two hours of event coverage on Saturday, February 4, 2006 (1PM CT/2PM ET).
To put their personal and distinctive trademark on the occasion, COWBOY CRUSH has re-worked their upcoming single entitled 'Hillbilly Nation' (scheduled to be released to radio Spring 2006) to 'NASCAR Nation.' "We love NASCAR! NASCAR and country music go hand in hand. NASCAR fans are country music fans! So, we all thought it appropriate that we revise the lyrics to fit the occasion," says Crush lead singer, Trenna Barnes.
A number of prominent NASCAR drivers will compete in the bobsled racing challenge on the Lake Placid course including Ken Schrader, Todd Bodine, Kenny Wallace, Dick Trickle, Steve Park, Tim Fedewa, Kevin Lepage, Boris Said, Joel Kauffman and Stanton Barrett. COWBOY CRUSH will be on hand to cheer the drivers on to a win!
Geoff Bodine who is the winner of the 1986 Daytona 500 along with another 19 NASCAR victories during his career introduces his initiative and the upcoming event, "We need to raise money to take these sleds to the next level for the 2010 Games {to be held in Vancouver and construction of another track has already started}. These guys are going to love the speed and thrill—they'll endure G-forces they have never felt before," said Bodine. 'We are honored Trenna, Debbie, Becky, Renae and Darla Rae will be here to join in the fun with some of THEIR biggest fans!' This year's event is expected to draw a crowd of nearly 3,000 bobsled and NASCAR fans.
COWBOY CRUSH will return to Nashville to perform at the Sprint Sound & Speed Event (part of a two-day festival-a celebration of Music & Motorsports presented by SunTrust Bank) on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center.
