NASHVILLE, TN. (Garth Brooks Official Website) - As
Garth Brooks begins to make forays back into country music, his dedicated fans are joining together to ask him to scale back his "retirement" and return to singing and touring. Using the power of the internet, a website has been created where fans of Garth's music can sign a petition asking him to return. Cyndi Morrison, Owner of BringBackGarth.com was kind enough to answer a few questions for me:
Thomas: What are the goals of BringBackGarth.com?
BBG: The main goal for BBG is to show Garth how much his fans miss him and how much we desire his return to do "live shows" / touring. We would like to gather One Million Names of dedicated Garth Fans to possibly make an impact on him and bring him back to the concert stage. We acknowledge and respect his decision to stay home and be with his children and with that we do not expect him to tour on a "grand scale"; our hope is that he may return with limited dates in a variety of locations yearly.
Thomas: Why do you feel so strongly that Garth needs to return?
BBG: We feel Garth needs to return because country music is not the same without him. There are many artists in the "Country Music Scene" that: 1. Are trying to be Garth. 2. Just are not playing country music. 3. Disguising Pop as Country. 4. Are lacking true humility. Garth brought the fans into his world. When you attended a Garth show, nothing else mattered. Everyone in the audience all of a sudden became "one" and the emotional high you have for days after a live show was extraordinary . Garth, the man, the legend, the energy, the humility is greatly missed.
Thomas: Do you see Garth's multi-year deal with Wal-Mart as a step in the right direction?
BBG: Absolutely!!! The deal Garth made with Wal-Mart put him and his music back in the spot light, once again reminding us what "Great" country music is supposed to sound like. The sales are going to be phenomenal! That just proves that country music fans are still out there and starving for "Great" country music instead of the same old cookie cutter flavor of the week that we've been getting on the radio. Again it is Garth being Garth. A complete box set for $25.00? This is unheard of! He is an artist and wants the music to be heard by everyone, not just those that are affluent enough to afford it. It is those values that are missing today. And when you see an artist do something like this, it really opens your eyes to show you as a consumer how much you have been sucked in to putting out more and more cash out for lesser quality products.
Thomas: What would you like to say to Garth if he were here right now?
BBG: We miss you! Please come back! Your recent TV appearances are only fueling a fire that can only be quenched by you on stage. You are the shot in the arm that country music needs to make it great once again. Please reconsider even if it is just on a very limited scale, and know that when you do....I'LL BE THERE!!!
