LOS ANGELES, CA (Merle Haggard) - MERLE HAGGARD has announced that he and his band, The Strangers (Kevin Williams, Biff Adam, Scott Joss, Norm Hamlett, and Doug Colosio), will perform the first of what he hopes will be many webcasts from the front room at his home in northern California. The webcast will be an hour long, containing live music - new and old - plus talking with guest Kenny Vernon. According to Merle, "We had some unforeseen technical glitches last week and I'm very sorry to all those that were disappointed. We hope to make it up to you this weekend." He continues, "The live stuff will contain live versions of a couple of songs from my new album, as well as some old favorites." (Chicago Wind has just been released by Capitol/Nashville.) In the current issue of GQ, Chris Heath wrote nearly a 10-page feature which included: "Not all of his greatest songs dealt with trouble - he has written with a majesty about love and dignity and gratitude and pride and standing up for what you believe in - but trouble and heartache certainly felt like his most natural neighborhoods: how life is hard, how hearts break easier than they mend, and how it sometimes seems as though everything but loneliness will abandon you, of anger looking for its rightful home, of wanting to stay but knowing there's something just as deep within a certain kind of man that forever tugs him to leave." You can catch this webcast from Merle's home this Saturday afternoon at 3pm (PT)/6pm (ET). Just log on at https://www.merlehaggard.com. The fee is $15.00.
