NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Broken Bow Records) - Country music's youth-fueled resurgence just got another huge lift with news that the self-titled debut album from firebrand
Jason Aldean has been RIAA Certified Gold for sales in excess of 500,000 copies.
"I'm surprised at how quickly the album went Gold," shares Jason Aldean. "But when you're working with a great team like the one at Broken Bow Records, anything is possible!"
Not only is the accomplishment a Stone Mountain-sized milestone in the native-Georgian's still developing career, but it is another determined challenge to the natural order in country music, which hasn't seen a Gold album from an independent-labeled new artist in years.
'It is a pleasure to work with such a hard-working and amazing entertainer like Jason Aldean,' says Benny Brown, President/CEO for Broken Bow Records. 'Jason's debut album marks the first Gold record for BBR and this is just the beginning. We look forward to a long, rewarding relationship with Jason.'
When he's not busy poking holes in country music's standard business model, Aldean is busy with national media appearances including upcoming segments on CNN and Extra, a cross-country tour and notching other important measures of success. The video for his debut single "Hicktown" recently jumped to No. 3 on the CMT Top 20 Countdown. And he just finished filming the video for his next video, "Why," with director Wes Edwards (Montgomery Gentry, Blake Shelton) at the helm and Ruckus Film producing. On Thanksgiving day, Jason will be performing at the Pre-Game show for the Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboy match up. And just a little over a week later, on December 4th, he will perform his Top 10 single at the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas, NV.
The second single's impending launch only magnifies the impact Aldean's had with only one single under his belt. His album sold more than 28,000 copies its first week of release, making it the highest-charting debut from an independent country artist in the modern SoundScan era.
