NASHVILLE, TN (Martina McBride Official Website) - It seems fitting that while rehearsing for the upcoming Johnny Cash television special, reigning CMA Female Vocalist Of The Year Martina McBride learned that Timeless, her new album of classic country songs, debuted at Number One. Martina's poignant rendition of Cash's 'I Still Miss Someone' is one of the gems included on Timeless.

With 185,174 albums sold and a Number One debut on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and Number Three on the Billboard 200 all-genre album chart (behind only Ashlee Simpson and Rod Stewart), Timeless earns Martina her best debut to date. Her self-titled album, released last year, also debuted at Number One with 122,639 copies sold.

On the debut Martina said, 'This is a dream project for me. A real labor of love. So it means so much to have it debut at Number One. What is exciting to me is that there are many, many people this week who are hearing these great classic country songs. I can just imagine these songs being played in people's houses, cars, at work...hopefully the respect and love I have for this music will shine through.'

RCA Label Group Chairman Joe Galante added, 'It really feels great when music this special has an immediate connection with the consumer. Martina took a big chance with this album, and it's obvious people agree with her decision.'

Martina had busy weeks leading up to the release of Timeless with appearances on The Today Show, Showbiz Tonight on CNN Headline News, the CMT special Martina McBride: Timeless, PBS' Soundstage, AOL Sessions and an unprecedented one hour on GAC's Grand Ole Opry Live. She also taped appearances on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, A&E's Breakfast With The Arts and Hannity & Colmes.

The album has received high praise from the critics. The New York Times says, 'Her new album is ‘Timeless,' an elegant disc on which she sings a smartly chosen selection of country classics,' and the Los Angeles Times proclaims, '...Buck Owens has it right when he declares about McBride's performance in the album, ‘Our kind of music, present and future, is in good hands.'' People Magazine sums it up with, 'Great songs elegantly sung...and this superb album lives up to the description.'
Martina will perform the Kris Kristofferson-penned classic and Timeless selection, 'Help Me Make It Through The Night,' on the CMA Awards on Tuesday, November 15.
