Nashville, TN (Capitol Records) - Capitol Records Nashville recording artist
Chris Cagle has re-entered the country market in a big way as legions of "Cagleheads" snap up ANYWHERE BUT HERE, Cagle's third album, during it's first week of release. At just over 47,000 units scanned, it's the country star's biggest sales week ever.
The strengths apparent in ANYWHERE BUT HERE are as hard-won as they are impressive. They follow a period in which Cagle's hard-charging approach to singing and life nearly robbed him of the vocal instrument at the core of his success. Early in 2004, he was ordered by his doctor to undertake a long period of vocal rest, something that completely reordered his existence.
"In my business," he says, "losing your vocal chords is a potentially career-ending condition, and I had to face the fact that there were things I was doing that were contributing to it. That's the sort of admission that can change you if you'll allow it.
The upshot was a Chris Cagle newly rededicated to his craft and to a healthy outlook on life, pouring himself into this new project, which he sees as offering something special to his fans.
"Chris' fans have been very patiently awaiting this release – and, obviously, they turned out in droves this first week," said Fletcher Foster, Capitol Records Nashville's Sr. VP of Marketing. "Country fans have missed hearing new material from this artist, and we're only too happy to have new Cagle music to give them again!"
The album's debut single "Miss Me Baby," a song filled with raw feeling of a failed love, written by Cagle and co-writer Monty Powell, is currently a top 20 hit on both Billboard and R&R country singles charts.
"Chris Cagle is back in a big way," said Jimmy Harnen, VP of Promotion at the label. " 'Miss Me Baby' is one of the most requested and biggest researching songs at Country radio. Fans know that they can always count on Chris for an amazing live show – one that's filled with Country rockin', ass kickin' music along with heartfelt ballads."
Cagle's debut album PLAY IT LOUD spawned his first number one hit, "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out," as well as other hit singles including "Laredo" and "Country By The Grace Of God." When he released his second Capitol Records album, Cagle showed no signs of the famous 'sophomore jinx' when CHRIS CAGLE debuted on Billboard's Top Country Album chart. The album contained the Top 5 hits "What A Beautiful Day" and "Chicks Dig It." Both albums went on to be certified Gold by the end of 2003.
