NASHVILLE, TN. (Grascals Official Website) - Rounder Records bluegrass group The Grascals will perform during the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Celebration on Saturday, October 15, at the Opry House as part of the Grand Ole Opry's 80th Anniversary festivities. As part of their set, The Grascals are proud to join a longstanding tradition by performing a classic jingle that has become almost synonymous with bluegrass music and the Grand Ole Opry since Flatt & Scruggs made it famous–the Martha White theme song, 'You Bake Right With Martha White.' Following their performance they will participate in an autograph session in the Opry Plaza.
Also on October 15, The Grascals will host the famous Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree radio show from the Texas Troubadour Theatre on Music Valley Drive. The show airs live on 650 WSM-AM immediately following the Grand Ole Opry.
The Grascals also grace the pages of the current issue of Country Weekly (October 24), on stands this week. The feature story, titled 'The Grascals Take Manhattan,' describes their trip to the Big Apple to open for Dolly Parton at Radio City Music Hall and includes the group's own photos from the trip.
The Grascals are featured on Dolly's latest release, Those Were the Days, in stores this week. All six of the band members performed on multiple tracks. They also spent two weeks with Dolly prior to the recording sessions, working up the arrangements for the collection, which covers the era-defining songs of the '60s and '70s.
On October 17, The Grascals will shoot their very first video, for the poignant Harley Allen-penned 'Me and John and Paul,' which earned the group an IBMA Song of the Year nomination. The video, directed by Lark Watts (who also directed Sawyer Brown's powerful 'They Don't Understand') will begin airing in January.
In addition to Song of the Year, The Grascals are nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year and Album of the Year (for The Grascals, which they produced), at the upcoming International Bluegrass Music Awards, to be held October 27 at the Ryman Auditorium.
