Montgomery Gentry's 'Something To Be Proud Of: Best Of 1999-2005' To Be Released November 1, 2005

NEW YORK,NY. (Columbia Nashville)- Montgomery Gentry's Something To Be Proud Of: Best Of 1999-2005 will be released November 1 on Columbia Nashville and boasts 12 quintessential hits, plus one new track from modern country music's dynamic duo. It is a collection spanning the six years since their first hit, an era in which they earned both critical and fan acclaim reminiscent of their heroes in the Outlaw movement.

"It feels like we just put out 'Hillbilly Shoes,'" says Eddie Montgomery. "I can't believe we've got a Greatest Hits album coming out. It absolutely blows my mind. And in a sense it feels like we're just now getting started."

"Something To Be Proud Of" reprises nine Top 20 hits, including eight Top 5s, from their first four CDs - the platinum "Tattoos & Scars" and "My Town," the nearly platinum "You Do Your Thing," and the gold "Carrying On" - as well as "Didn't I," from the Mel Gibson film "We Were Soldiers" soundtrack, plus the instant classic "Merry Christmas From The Family," from a Sony Christmas collection.

The project also features a new track, "She Don't Tell Me To," showcasing the legendarily rowdy duo's sensitive side. The title cut, "Something to Be Proud Of," is currently No 1 at both the Billboard and R&R charts.

Montgomery Gentry has been one of the era's most visible live acts, as part of the Brooks & Dunn Neon Circus & Wild West Show in 2001 and Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" tours in 2002 and 2003, and then as headliners themselves. They have won several major awards, including CMA's Duo of the Year nod in 2000, have appeared on numerous national television shows & spearheaded several charitable events.
