Los Angeles, CA. (American Music Awards)- Country music superstar Toby Keith made headlines recently with his industry-changing decision to open his own stand-along label, Show Dog Nashville. And that label is now making a little bit of history of its own, landing its debut single, Keith's "Big Blue Note," at No. 35 on the Radio & Records Country Singles chart in only its first week of release. The impressive open makes "Big Blue Note" the highest-debuting single from a new label since R&R's inception in 1973. "We have the best in talent with Toby Keith and the best staff in the business.' said George Nunes, GM Show Dog Nashville. 'It's a great feeling to make history.' Show Dog opened its doors Sept. 1 with the motto, "The only thing we take seriously is the music." And judging by its first official entry in the annals of country music, country radio is taking the label's music very seriously. For Keith, the early success is simply the latest accomplishment in a career that seems to have no ceiling. His singles have spent 51 weeks at No. 1 since the turn of the millennium, more than any other country artist. He's sold 25 million albums to date, and his tours, including this year's "Big Throwdown II" consistently perform for capacity crowds. Most recently, Keith was nominated for two 'American Music Awards': Favorite Country Male Artist and Favorite Country Album. The 33rd Annual 'American Music Awards' will be presented live on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 from Los Angeles.
